Multivitamins

I recommend the Perque for people who have chronic health issues, auto-immune problems or need a superior, hypoallergenic product. For healthy people, the Designs for Health works well. For both of these, you’ll need to add calcium and magnesium. The minerals are bulky and there is only so much you can fit in two tablets/capsules a day!

DGL-Licorice

DGL has been used by the Chinese and others for thousands of years to soothe stomach, esophageal, and intestinal irritation. Studies show that licorice helps to inhibit acid secretion and helps the body increase mucous secretions in the stomach. DGL is the glycyrhizzin removed, which is important, because regular licorice can raise blood pressure levels.

Glutamine

Here are two glutamine products that I recommend. Glutamine is the preferred fuel for maintenance and repair of the small intestine. It has been shown in many studies to be protective of the intestinal tract, decrease risk to infection, help build muscle mass, and help prevent muscle atrophy in aging.

Probiotics

Probiotics are the beneficial bacteria that inhabit our digestive system. They support health digestion, manufacture vitamins, protect our immune system, and restore gut balance after antibiotic therapy. Many contain FOS (fructiligosaccharides—sorry you looked?) which are a type of fiber that nourishes the probiotic bacteria.

Folixer makes a high dose folic acid. Think of high dose folate when you want to protect an interior surface of the body from irritation and prevent cancer. Vitamin B₁₂

The most effective way to take vitamin B₁₂ is sublingually, under the tongue. Swallowed vitamin B₁₂ is poorly absorbed. Vegetarians and many other people are deficient in this essential nutrient. Vitamin B₁₂ deficiency symptoms include: pernicious anemia, poor immune function, mental deterioration, sleep disorders, reduced melatonin levels, erosion of mucosal areas (such as cervix, and colon), high homocysteine levels, fatigue, and reduced endurance.
